That’s Coach Beard from Ted Lasso if anyone was wondering. Yes, famous people live in Richmond.
In Taste by Stanley Tucci, he says we’ve lost the connection to food between the plastic wrap bought in groceries stores. So today I’m visiting Borough Market, a food market that’s been open since as early as 1297. Golly i love Al fresco markets. Since Cockermouth, I’ve learned to try to buy food at markets from the actual purveyors if they’re offering. That’s not to say the actual food tents there aren’t excellent as well. I just dare to venture the purveyors’ ingredients are the freshest of the fresh.
Look at these strawberries. The fricking colors man 🫠. I didn’t buy them, lol. I’m still budgeting here. I opted for a mango instead because it’s been too long since i last had one.
I bought pigeon breast. I have no idea how to make pigeon breast. I bought it for the hell of it to try. The butcher says make it like a steak. Will give an update. I do however want to try dry-aged steak someday.
Update: i overcooked the pigeon breast lmaooooo. It was a bit gamy and irony, but since i cooked it to a brick i wouldn’t trust my judgement.
Samet and his mom gifted me this bottle of Raki (kinda like schnapps but made with grapes) from Turkey. We immediately opened it to celebrate Samet landing a job! Tastes like a sweet gaoliang (Taiwanese rice wine) and turns a cloudy color when you add water to it (kinda like the Korean, sparkling rice wine makgeolli).
